History
St. Patrick's Church was originally built as a Chapel School on lands given by Bezsin Reece. The cornerstone was laid on January 17, 1839 and it was consecrated as a Church by Bishop Thomas Parry on April 10, 1843. The Church served for some time in conjunction with St. Bartholomew.
Between 1890 and 1897 the Chancel was added and laid with encaustic tiles.
On June 14, 1938, the two manual organ and fifteen stops replacing the one manual pedal Organ was dedicated by Bishop David Williams Bentley.
The present pulpit was dedicated on January 14, 1940 and at the same time the Kirton Memorial Choir Vestry was also dedicated. The Reverend H.F. Kirton (1897-1927) was the longest serving Incumbent of the Church.
