History
The Church rests majestically on the slope of the hills overlooking the north eastern and eastem side of the Island providing a breathtaking view of the rugged coastline.
Its immediate surroundings are most tranquil.
This was one of the four Chapels of ease that came out of the episcopate of Bishop Hart Coleridge 1824-1842.
The first Church was erected around 1838 through a pooling of funds by the parishioners and a number of agencics. Its purpose at that early stage, to provide a place of worship to take some of the load off St. Lucy's Parish Church, taking into account the demographic shift and swift development of the surrounding districts, in the post amancipation period.
The present building maintained in a reasonable state still adequately provides that place for worship, spiritual uplifting and solace for those in close proximity.
